I bought a copy of the ebook (pdf format) Sail Ready! by Sue and Rod Campbell-Ross. The book is organized alphabetically covering a variety of topics: Abandon Ship, Boat (Choice of), Navigation, Seasickness, and Spares to name a few. Given the breadth of content and the short number of pages this is a definitely an introductory book, but a very good one at that with referrals to other books when a topic warrants it.
You can but the ebook online at their website: http://www.sailready.com/ and then you will be able to download the PDF formatted document. You will need to write down and save the password for opening the document as well. I bought my book in September and lost the password, but via the website I was able to contact someone and get the password again in a day. I recommend you save your password in a text file in the same folder as the document itself if you don’t plan to print it out (save the trees folks).
If you are new to sailing or cruising this will be a good book to get you going and to help you figure out where you should focus your next phase of learning. Also, if you are of the mind that a K.I.S.S. mentality is the way to go and want a simple well run boat this book will support your already established opinions. If you believe in the latest electronics, watermakers, solar and wind generators this book probably isn’t going to fit in with your view of the world.
